At the end of May, the Toronto Short-Term Mission Training Centre (TSTM) celebrated its 36th anniversary. Looking back over the years, we have been serving this multicultural land through faithfully equipping believers in biblical truth, compassion for souls, and practical evangelism, with the goal of advancing local outreach ministry and strengthening the church.

Toronto is not only a city of immigrants—it is also a spiritual harvest field waiting to be reaped. Between 2025 and 2026, we partnered with 42 churches. Through outreach efforts on the streets, in residential communities, in shopping malls, and on university campuses throughout the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding cities, we connected with 4,342 individuals, engaged in meaningful gospel conversations with 2,035 people, and witnessed 111 friends make decisions to follow Christ under the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Together, we have seen the mighty work of God.
What has moved us even more deeply are the countless moments when brothers and sisters encounter hearts in need. Evangelism is not merely a responsibility—it is a joy-filled journey of walking with God. Below are six testimony stories from believers who participated in our evangelistic outreach ministries.
Testimony 1: The Urgency of Souls — Discovering the Mission Through Regret
During a community visit, I met a gentleman who had lived in Canada for many years. When our conversation turned to the Christian faith, this elderly man with white hair suddenly burst into tears.
He shared a painful experience that had been buried in his heart for more than a decade. Years ago, his mother-in-law in China became involved with the cult known as “Eastern Lightning” (The Church of Almighty God). She became completely consumed by it and eventually sold all her possessions to donate to the organization. Desperate to help her, he rushed back to China, hoping to rescue her, but found himself powerless.
This heartbreaking experience left him with deep resistance and fear toward anything associated with Christianity. Even though his wife and children have since become Christians and been baptized, the door of his heart remains tightly shut.
This encounter impressed upon me the urgency of evangelism. If truth does not occupy the ground, false teachers will rise and harm the flock. It reminded me that every lesson we learn and every training session we receive at the TSTM is not for winning arguments, but for bringing the light of Christ to souls before they are consumed by darkness.
Testimony 2: The Power of Training — Discernment on the Subway
An unexpected encounter on the subway made me realize the importance of being equipped.
One day, while riding the subway with my child, I met a young foreign gentleman who spoke exceptionally fluent Chinese. He was polite, friendly, and introduced himself as a Christian. He enthusiastically invited me to attend his church.
To be honest, I was excited. It seemed rare to meet a foreign believer who spoke Chinese so well and was so passionate about sharing his faith. However, as our conversation continued, I began to recall the lessons on cults and false teachings from the course at TSTM. Some of what he said did not sound quite right. So, I asked him directly whether he was a Mormon. He immediately admitted that he was.
I politely declined his invitation.
The training we receive does not merely teach us how to speak—it also teaches us how to discern and test what we hear, protecting both ourselves and our families from being led away from biblical truth.
Testimony 3: A Christmas Surprise — A Sinner’s Prayer in a Restaurant
During Christmas Evangelism Week, our team went caroling at New Kennedy Square.
The day began with disappointment. After visiting more than ten stores and singing Christmas carols, we were repeatedly told that the staff were too busy to talk. Then we entered a small noodle restaurant and met two young servers, a man and a woman.
We began by asking, “Merry Christmas! Do you know the true meaning of Christmas?” To our surprise, both young people listened attentively. Even while serving customers, they continued finding opportunities to discuss the gospel with us. Eventually, I cautiously asked the young man whether he would like to receive Jesus as his Savior.
To my amazement, he immediately said yes. Filled with joy, I led him in a sinner’s prayer. At that moment, I was reminded that it is not human eloquence that brings people to faith, but God Himself working in their hearts.
Testimony 4: The Fire of Youth — A Gospel Witness on Campus
The 2025 London, Ontario Evangelistic Outreach greatly encouraged my spiritual life.
After participating in evangelism with the team on the first day, my passion for the gospel was reignited. Unfortunately, I was unable to join the outreach on the second day because of a gathering with my teachers and classmates. Yet the spiritual excitement from the previous day continued to burn within me. During the gathering, I found myself courageously sharing the gospel with my teachers and classmates.
Had God’s love not been compelling me from within, I would never have had the courage to speak. His love would not allow me to remain silent.
Testimony 5: The Church United — A Symphony of Life at the Easter Outreach
During an Easter outreach event, I witnessed a deeply moving picture of a church fully engaged in the work of evangelism.
Children, youth, and seniors stood together on-stage presenting songs of praise. Offstage, entire families participated and offered support. Young parents even brought their babies to the event. It was a beautiful and heartwarming scene: the church functioning as one family, with people of every age working together in mall evangelism.
In that moment, I was reminded that evangelism is not the responsibility of only a few enthusiastic believers. Rather, it is a beautiful testimony of the entire body of Christ laboring together in unity.
Dear brothers and sisters,These testimonies represent only a small glimpse of the many stories God has written over the past year. We have witnessed both the deep thirst within human hearts and the transforming power of God’s Word.
The harvest is ripe; all that remains is for us to step forward in faith.
We warmly invite you to join 「Jesus Loves Toronto」 on August 20–22 and September 3–5 and become part of this exciting evangelistic movement.
During last year’s Jesus Loves Toronto outreach, we witnessed remarkable enthusiasm and commitment from believers. A total of 223 volunteers and gospel workers from churches across the Greater Toronto Area participated. In just six days, they connected with 1,412 individuals, engaged in meaningful life conversations with 604 people, and led 17 individuals to place their faith in Jesus Christ.
The Toronto STM is not merely a training platform—it is a launching point that sends believers into the community to fulfill our Lord’s Great Commission. May we, before the Lord returns, reach one more soul and bring hope to one more family.
